Dear fellow Rotarians and fellow alumni,

Greetings on behalf of the RFAA 3140 and Rotary!
It has been a year of good happenings. As the District Alumni chair (09-10)I had the good fortune of updating the Alumni directory.
There were two GSE teams in 2009-10, one traditional and the other vocational(for the first time). It was an incredible experience to lead the vibrant vocational GSE team(Fashion )to Paris as the first GSE team member turned leader this year in March-April 2010.
An addition of new 11 members to the association.
Our present District Governor Dr Jayant Kulkarni, is a TRF alumni , having been a Rotary Volunteer to Jamaica . Our District Cr for Alumni 2010-11 Prafull Sharma is a TRF alumni ,having led a team to Germany in 2009. Further ,at the RI level, the chairman of the TRF alumni advisory committee is  an alumni from our district ,PDG Gulam Vahanvaty.Things couldn't be better poised for the active growth phase of our association than it could be right now .
Thanks to the efforts of Alumni and Vice president of RFAA Dr Haresh Asnani , our webmaster, the website www.rfalumni.tripod is alive and kicking .Your inputs are welcome .
Derick Pinto our proactive member is the secretary this year.
I look forward to meeting many of you at the Alumni meet convened by Rtn Prafull on the occasion of the District TRF meet and visit of TRF Trustee Chair Carl-Wilhelm- Stenhammer,on August 26th evening at Thane .The venue is an a lovely new one, hope to see you there .
Together we can plan activities for the association, both fellowship and community service based ones.
We know we are force to reckon with and together we can do wonders.

MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT CHAIR - ROTARY FOUNDATION ALUMNI, DIST. 3140

Dear Friends,

We are fortunate to be the few Rotarians (and non Rotarians) selected to benefit from, and be able to make a difference to, the Rotary Foundation as Foundation Alumni. As you will all agree, the Rotary Foundation has been instrumental in shaping our lives in a better way. It offers us numerous ways to serve the community, thereby enriching our lives.

It is very this reason that we should keep in touch and come together to serve the community as and when we can. Rotarians on their own part are committed to be active in Service. Non Rotarians have very solid platform of The Rotary Foundation Alumni Association (RFAA) in our District 3140 to serve the community.

Let’s utilize this website, which is a very vital tool for us to get connected and to let the world know about our activities.

 Compliments for reviving this website.

 With Warm Rotary Greetings ,

Prafull J Sharma

 (Dist Chair – TRF Alumni)

SOME OF OUR ALUMNI HAD THIS TO SAY:

Ø  The GSE programme to Dist. 2080 (Rome) was one of the most exciting, exhilarating, educating, and fun-filled experience I ever had. It really widened my horizon, taught me inter-cultural relationship and confirmed my belief that people the world over are the same - warm, friendly and giving. The Italians truly open their hearts and homes to us and we shared many beautiful moments and long chats into the night exchanging ideas and cultures. Some moments struck a chord and have sweet lingering memories. One of such was when I visited one of the hosts. She was so fascinated by our culture and everything Indian that before leaving she bedizened in her grand mother' s wedding dress, jewellery et al which had been lying untouched for years. We were both in tears. Such was the closeness, joy and friendship that the programme brought.
Alum Dr Sharmila E Pandit, 2002 GSE team member

Ø  A Tryst with Destiny...through GSE
An opportunity which unleashed and exploited potentials, personality to broaden horizons, attitudes in versatile aspects not just developing confidence to face plethora of challenges but also imbibing understanding towards ones own and for different people, cultures, country creating tolerance to mutually benefit the society and become conscious world citizens with an imprint of a lifetime of an enriching experience and memories to savor. One can do no great things, only small things with great love.
Niketa Dedhia, GSE 2004, District 1570, The Netherlands

Ø  This is what Chairman, GSE (2003-04) Alum Rtn. PP Deepak Chawla has to say:
"Being a GSE Chairman  was a cherishing experience for me .In the past,I was involved in the GSE selection process , but because of last years alumni meet, a new Alumni  resource group  emerged who could effectively participate in my selection procedures. The alumni  networking helped immensely.
The beginning of our Alumni Association's and its involvement thus has begun!"
